The two-year full-time residential Post Graduate Diploma in Management is an attempt to produce competent professional managers. The program is designed to enhance the problem solving and decision making abilities of participants, and create awareness of the socio-economic environment. The aim of the programme is to produce managers with socially desirable values. During the first year of the programme, students learn basic concepts in the areas of Managerial Communication, Finance & Accounting, Marketing, Organizational Behaviour, Human Resource Management, and Operations & QuantitativeTechniques.

These core courses help the students to build a sound foundation in various functional areas. During the second year, students get an opportunity to choose their specialization according to their areas of interest. Currently, specializations viz. Finance, Marketing are offered in the second year, out of which students can choose any one of these depending on their interest areas. The students are exposed to atleast 300 cases and different experiential techniques. Various field assignments are part of the course work, including a two-month summer internship in organisations at the end of the first year. Along with core management subjects, the curriculum also lays emphasis on course and activities that sensitize the students to social, environmental and ethical issues. Academic collaborations with universities in USA, Canada, Sweden and other countries are being initiated for students’ exchange programs and other academic / research activities.

  • To integrate the theoretical knowledge with practical aspects of organizational settings and techniques of management.
  • To acquire conceptual and analytical abilities required for effective decision making.
  • Evolve with the dynamic and complex working environment.

Thrust

The basic thrust is on understanding the independent nature of organizational dynamics and its managerial implications. This can help students acquire conceptual and analytical abilities required for appropriate decision making and its effective implementation in organisations.


Learning Outcomes

The students will be able to :

  • Demonstrate skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary to gain employment in the corporate sector or in family businesses.
  • Identify and evaluate options for developing strategies in business situations.
  • Use a range of practical tools and techniques for conducting business.
  • Identify potential market opportunities in the Indian and global market.
  • Describe and identify the implications for Indian business.
  • Analyse and evaluate the issues that arise out of the greater integration of the Indian economy and businesses with the global environment.
  • Identify and respond appropriately to differences in business culture and ethics in the international business arena.
